Federated4Health work to support the development of local GPs and their staff
Diabetes upskilling – F4H provided opportunities for Haringey staff of all levels to attend upskilling workshops around Diabetes. This was part of a quality improvement initiative which aimed to improve knowledge whilst reducing variation in care. The Nurse and HCA workshop delivered practical and competency based training covering the 9 key care processes of Diabetes. The 2 Day course was aimed at clinicians responsible for diabetes management; the training was presented by consultants from Whittington Hospital.
Medical assistant – We want to help reduce unnecessary paperwork for doctors allowing them to focus on what is important to provide the best clinical care for our Haringey patients. The Medical Assistant would deal with any documents requiring correspondence (e.g. medication changes or referrals) resulting in a reduction passed to the clinical team of around 70%-80%. The Medical Assistants Pilot includes all 5 North Central London CEPNs (Barnet, Enfield, Camden, Haringey and Islington) and is now coming to the end and the data will be analysed.
Care Navigation Training –Federated4Health offered all practices in Haringey Care Navigation training for receptionists and administrators. DNA Insight provided bespoke training that catered to the needs of the practices and patients alike. Care Navigation is the process by which patients, who do not need to see a doctor, are signposted to a more appropriate healthcare practitioner. The training has been found to provide greater job satisfaction for staff, helping patients see the most appropriate health professional for their needs. The Practice also benefits from reduced stress as GPs have the potential to free up to 26% of their daily consultation time.
